The End of an Era

Today is our last official day with Denali. He's been an incredible dog and Ramin's constant companion for the last 2 1/2 years. A perfect situation has opened up for him, though to go to our good friend and President of the Schutzund club, Jeff and work full time. It's been so obvious to us over the last 6 months that although we love him dearly, what's best for him is to be in a home where he can work and not primarily be a pet. We've been talking about it like we're sending him to college. Ramin has worked with him so devotedly, but can only scratch the surface of what Denali truly needs each day, so he's moving on to a new season of opportunity. We'll miss him so much, but want to do what's best for him long term. Cheers to the best dog EVER! We love you Pup.

The Best Mother's Day EVER!

This past weekend my wonderful husband and my sweet son took me to Moab, Utah for my first Mother's Day. It was perfect. We stayed in a bed and breakfast called Cali Cochita and as you can tell from this picture, it was beautiful. The proprietors were so warm and inviting and the cottage we stayed in was quaint and comfy. Isaiah loved the back yard and crawled everywhere discovering all kinds of new things.

This picture is our little family before the Mother's Day dinner we went to. We went to a place called the Desert Bistro and enjoyed the prettiest food I've ever seen. Isaiah was a little angel the whole time and with white linen table cloths, he needed to be :)

On Monday we went hiking in Arches National Park. We loved doing that as a family. Moab is truly and incredible place and if you ever get the chance to go, it's worth it!

Birthday Fun

Tammy, Jen, Julie, Betsy and Meggan looking beautiful at El Noa Noa
Jen, Betsy, Julie, Me, Meggan and Tammy in Denver for my birthday

The night before my birthday I had a great time with some dear friends in Denver. We went to a really neat Mexican restaurant called El Noa Noa and sat in a back patio area that looked like the Secret Garden. It was perfect...that time of evening where the sun makes everyone look luminescent. I loved sharing the evening with these friends; they are among the women here in Boulder that bring encouragement and joy to my life. After dinner we met up with Karin and Tara and went to a play together. My friend Suzanne, who I worked with at Dr. Britt's office was in it and I really wanted to see her perform. The play was thought provoking and and left me with more questions than answers (I growingly love that). Anyway, it was an incredibly refreshing night doing things that I love with people that I love.

Fun at the Zoo

Tuesday we went with some friends to the Denver Zoo for the first time. Isaiah was all ready to see the animals in his hibiscus shirt. He's such a big boy these days. I look at this picture and can't believe that this is my baby that was so helpless for so long. Those days are no longer. He's crawling all over, pulling himself up on things and trying his hardest to stand up on his own.

He didn't quite know what he was supposed to do at the Zoo, (he ended up looking at the information plates in front of the cages more than the animals themselves) but was very excited by the Grizzly bears and the elephants. I think it was that they were too big to miss.

We had a picnic with a squirrel that was a little too friendly and I ended up looking like I needed to be admitted after getting up, screaming and running him off into the bushes. The protection reflex is a suprising result of motherhood. It's something I'd never felt before and now is in full form.

It was a fun day and we're looking forward to going again with Daddy.

A New Blog...A Second Chance

I always had the best of intentions with blogging. I thought we'd move here, I'd set one up and it would be my way of keeping everyone up to date on our life out here. Well, it's 2 1/2 years later and after posting only 1 solitary blog, I'm trying again with a renewed energy. This is a new blog (I'm going to get rid of the old one) and will hopefully have a lot more going on than the last one did. It helps that our little guy Isaiah is around...he's my motivation to do this again. Enjoy the pictures and the updates!
