5 Years Old

Yesterday at 4:19 am our little man turned 5. He has officially transitioned from the baby/toddler/preschooler stage to being a full blown big boy! And what a wonderful big boy he has become. I'll fill you in on his birthday festivities in a minute, but first I want to share a little bit about what I see in my sonny.

He is full of energy and excitement for life.

He is creative and always looking for a way to make the story or the picture or the event more interesting.

He is curious. He loves discovering new things and learning all about the why's and what's and how's.

He is tender. He loves his people and makes sure that they know it.

He is discerning. His radar is up as he processes who he's with, what he's watching, or what he's hearing. If it doesn't coincide with what his heart knows to be true or right, he calls it out.

He is adventurous. He loves to explore.

He is a man for speed. Whether it's trains, cars or bikes, he likes to see them go fast!

He appreciates the past. His favorite things are "old timey" trains and classic cars.

I could say so much more, but you get the idea. We love our Sonny and think he's pretty special.

His 5 year old birthday started with a butterfly hike with Daddy and a huge kiss from his Heavenly Father as he was able to catch 3 of his most favorite butterflies (the monarch)! After that it was riding and resting until his pool party! A bunch of his best buddies came to celebrate him and play in the pool together. It was a great time!
